Service Description

This is a seven week course offered for students who require a basic understanding of everyday math and haven't quite mastered those concepts from younger grades. Laurie will be focusing on helping students grasp topics that all of us need in our day to day to help us redecorate our house, tell when something is a good deal, hang a picture in the centre of a wall, or just double a recipe. This course will be geared toward students who struggle to get concepts at the regular class pace and who will need these skills as they launch into their own lives away from Mom and Dad. Course Overview (SUBJECT TO CHANGE) Week 1 -review multiplication and division (mental math) - review on how to use a scientific calculator Project: create your own flash cards (and then we test them out in class) Week 2 - perimeter/area Project: if you needed to re carpet your house or install new flooring by yourself how would you do it using the current home you are in (pick one room).
